Lately, I’ve been noticing that the nude nail has been resonating with the fashion set. Not just ANY nude nail, not the soft pink you’ve come to think of as fool proof but a shade that creates a seamless line … making it look like you have some long-ass fingers. I know that description isn’t necessarily appealing, so I’ve provided you with a model sporting the look … Thoughts? I for one, am definitely feeling it.
I originally came across this image in Elle and then stumbled upon it online … but I don’t remember where.

As some of you may know, I am a connoisseur of all things nail-ular. Well, It turns out, it runs in the family. Today, I’m going to treat you to some of my cousin Sheila’s nail art! I don’t know how she keeps her hands so steady but prepare yourself to be given the business. Along with the admittedly grainy cell phone pics, is her running commentary. She seems somewhat reluctant to toot her own horn, so I’ll toot it for her. TOOT TOOT.

Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls … Unless You Want One Kick-Ass Manicure!

I’ve been wearing this manicure for a week.
Let me say that again,
AN ENTIRE WEEK
And it’s still going strong! This would make a great vacation manicure!
To refresh your memory, here’s what it looked like the first day.
And below, you can see what it looks like today. Please excuse the meh iphone shot but while you do that try to appreciate the uncomfortable, evocative-of-a-praying-mantis positioning of my hand.
To be clear, this is with NO touch-ups and I’ve been knocking ma hands around like nobody’s business. I just can’t recommend this enough.
And another thing!
I would have to say that this definitely looks better in person. It’s also unexpectedly subtle because most of your nail is bare so from a distance you just see a glimmer when the tip of your nail catches the light. That piques your curiousity, it draws you in and upon closer inspection BAM it’s gold. Yeah, Gold.

I’m trying something new … just go with it.
The ‘something new’ is a graduated glitter half-nail gold number using Only Gold for Me from Sephora by OPI (of course). First I’ll show you a photo I’ve jigged with to win you over and then I’ll show you what it looks like in real life. Still cool, just not as cool as this:
And now for the non-shopped version:
This is about 3 to 4 coats of Only Gold For Me and I had to push the glitter around strategically to achieve the ‘waterfall’ or graduated effect. I then topped the bad boy off with two generous helpings of top coat to smooth out the surface/make the entire nail shiny. And that’s about it …

I have two things to show you in this post. The first is my nail polish, it’s by L’Oreal and it’s called Apple of My Eye. I would describe it as a carnival-red. I have a brainflow chart that breaks down how I may have arrived at this association.

The other thing I want to show you is MY SUPERCOOL NEW PLEATHER HALF-PANTS. I will NOT stop yelling. I’m very excited about this pleather-legging hybrid.
I shall call them PLEGGINGS!!!
I realized after I purchased them that they were the pair featured in the latest Zara evening collection catalogue (see original picture below). Now I just need me a slouchy, too-cool-for-you bow tie …
